Fashion Is...
This project was designed to answer the question, "What is fashion". I decided to create a shibori sleeve to answer this question. Its not a top or a jacket, just a single sleeve because to me, fashion is what you make it. It's not a piece of clothing, it's what makes you feel like you. It is a form of self expression that allows you to show others who you are. The clothes you choose to wear say more about a you than you think. Fashion is more than just clothes.

One of requirements for this project was to use some sort of fabric manipulation technique. I chose to use a traditional Japanese Shibori technique. Traditionally rocks or marbles are used but all I had was buttons. So I tied buttons into my fabric with thread. After about 10+ hours of tying I boiled the bundle of button fabric for three hours. After it fully dried I untied all the buttons and I was left with this beautiful bubbled texture. Unfortunately I boiled all the color out but the end result was still just as lovely.
